Mark Bar Offers 10-Hour Happy Hour

Last week, one of Greenpoint's finer (and more fun) pubs, Mark Bar, started opening at 10 a.m. instead of its usual 4 p.m., and to celebrate, it instituted a ten-hour happy hour that lasts till 8 p.m. every day: $3 well drinks, $3 beers, $4 glasses of wine, and the usual $2 PBRs.

(You'll recall the magazine mentioning that Mark Bar makes its money off those PBRs while sales of top shelf booze have declined -- something in keeping with a Times article about the new popularity of bottom-shelf booze at liquor stores).

Plus, it'll be one of the Greenpoint bars participating in the Great Greenpoint Mac Off, along with Habitat, TBD, and Red Star Bar (the latter, by the way, has a hell of an all-you-can-eat pasta special on Tuesdays: $14.95 includes salad and a glass of wine).

On Sunday, March 22 from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m., the bars will offer free samples of macaroni and cheese, you vote, and some "celebrity" judges will announce the winner at TBD. And speaking of mac-and-cheese contests, here's the winning recipe of the "MACdown" in case you're curious.
