Hot Ticket: “Cooking With Julia” Day at ICE

Call it Juliapalooza: See the film that’s reigniting our Child love, learn to cook a few of her most classic dishes, then wash it all down with French wines at ICE

Julia Child fever hasn’t been this strong since the icon was broadcasting her cooking show into our living rooms, thanks to “Julie and Julia,” the movie based partly on her own memoir “My Life in France,” and partly on disgruntled secretary Julie Powell’s blog about trying to cook every one of the recipes in “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” The Institute of Culinary Education’s jumping on the bandwagon with a Cooking with Julia event, which will combine a screening of the film with a marathon masterclass in some of the chef's most classic dishes – from quiche Lorraine to bifteck sauté au beurre to charlotte malakoff aux fraises and beyond -- followed by a wine-doused dinner full of reminiscences about your experiences with Child’s cooking. (Chef-Prof Melanie Underwood can kick that off: her first solo baking attempt, at eight years old, was Child’s éclair recipe.)
