EaterWire: Stop Work Order at Perm Brunch, 508 To Open Mon., Free Ciao Bella, and More

EAST VILLAGE— Nothing like a little chef name dropping to spice up some boring old plywood. But while Alevras' La Otra (above) may be getting closer to an actual opening, his other fall project, Permanent Brunch, has been hit with a stop work order, issued September 10. [EaterWire]

TRIBECA508 the new restaurant in the old Giorgione 508 space will hold its grand opening all next week, starting Monday: "The 'small bites' include wild boar risotto, 20‐hour braised pork belly, garbanzo beans with merguez sausage and apricots, grilled octopus withpurple potatoes and squid ink vinaigrette. House entrees include whole roasted Branzino, Black Angus rib eye, and quail with candied almonds." [EaterWire]

DUMBO— Tomorrow and Saturday Ciao Bella will be giving away free scoops of gelato and sorbet at Dumbo's Art Under the Bridge Festival. [EaterWire]

WILLIAMSBURG— In the world of record renos, the restaurant formerly known as Anytime Cafe on North 6th is now Lovin Cup Cafe. A correspondent stops in: "The menu is sparse but focused - about 5 items each for appetizers, sides, entrees, and desserts. The emphasis on simple, late-night food is there, but there's a touch of the gourmet...One of the owners told me that they were making the food the top priority, with an emphasis on family recipes and tried and true favorites."
