Morimoto's Lunch Spot, Mr. Chow's Bar, '21' Extends Deals

Mr. Chow, Monkey Bar and a Restaurant Week extension.

CHELSEA— Some news from the rumormill courtesy of DBTH: "A Little Birdy tells that Morimoto, Mr. Iron Chef, was looking into opening a more casual lunch space in the Chelsea Market building in the Meatpacking District, but that the plans have been put on hold because of economic pressures. We are giddy with the possibilities of Morimoto expanding beyond his high end Japanese restaurant." [DBTH]

TRIBECA— Grub Street reports that designated shitshow Mr. Chow has finally opened its reservations-only bar to the public: "Does this really matter? No. But when the restaurant closes, we'll want a proper chronology." [GS]

MIDTOWN EAST— Pete Wells has an updated projection for the opening of Monkey Bar: "On April 16, the restaurant will open — for previews...I asked the natural question: If it goes into previews starting April 16, will the Monkey Bar ever actually open? Ms. Kseniak’s answer: 'It will, I promise.'" [Diner's Journal]

MIDTOWN— Not a huge surprise here: "Starting Monday, April 6, ‘21’ will extend Restaurant Week prix fixe menu pricing on lunch weekdays ($24), and dinner ($35 in both the Bar Room and The Upstairs, M-Sat) through Labor Day. The prices do not include beverages, tax, or gratuity." [EaterWire]
