Chocolatey, Cupcakey, Bacony V-Day Pop-Up

Local sweetmakers serve up special-edition treats

Local diet-ruiners Liddabit Sweets and Kumquat Cupcakery are popping up just in time for Valentine’s Day over at the Kill Devil Hill shop in Greenpoint (which, if you haven’t been following things, goes like this: Kill Devil Hill, the boutique, isn’t closed, but it’s not operating at the moment – a series of pop-ups is inhabiting the space until April, when the home décor/unusual apparel purveyors return. No, we don’t quite get it either, but we’re happy they’re not gone).

From today through Valentine’s Day, you can swing by and hobnob with the talented ladies behind Liddabit and Kumquat and purchase their wares firsthand. Both will be selling new/limited-edition creations made especially for the holiday/pop-up event, as well as old favorites: From Kumquat, get miniature cupcake roses, plus the famous bacon cupcakes we frothed about way back when. And Liddabit has two new chocolate-dipped bars: Chocolate Doom, a milk choc/white choc ganache fiesta built upon a cocoa sablé cookie, and My Spicy Valentine, which involves passion fruit/cayenne caramel and dark chocolate. Also, for the anti-chocolate types, there’ll be other delights like blood-orange jelly hearts.

Liddabit Sweets/Kumquat Cupcakery pop-up at Kill Devil Hill, 170 Franklin Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn; February 11-14, 10AM-7PM.
