9/21: Martha Stewart Makes You a Cocktail, Ra Ra Riot…

…and a night to celebrate Queens cuisine

RIOT ACT: Fans of Syracuse, N.Y.-formed chamber pop ensemble Ra Ra Riot will get their fix this week: The band is playing no fewer than four shows starting tonight, showing off songs from their shimmering sophomore disc The Orchard. Tonight and tomorrow, it’s Bowery Ballroom; head to the Music Hall of Williamsburg Thursday and Friday. 8PM.

GOOD THING: Did you know there was a Martha Stewart Herb Garden at the New York Botanical Garden? You can sip and schmooze with the domestic dame herself tonight at the NYBG’s Conservatory Kitchen, where La Stewart will proselytize on the topic of using herbs in cocktails, all part of the Bronx institution’s Edible Garden series. 5:30PM.

QUEENS FEAST: You can tack from table to table until you’ve sampled from all 50+ purveyors of deliciousness at the 9th Annual Cuisine of Queens Food & Wine Tasting—a fair bit easier than hunting down the dishes, baked goods and libations yourself across the massive borough. Also: A five-ingredient cookoff, with Top Chef’s Andrea Beaman, Trattoria L’incontro’s Rocco Sacramone and one lucky layperson (no pressure!). 6PM.
