8/31: Last Call for Crab, Blondie, John Legend & the Roots

Hear the John Legendary Roots Crew’s Wake Up before anyone else

LAST CALL: It’s been a deliciously messy summer of crab boils at the East Village’s Back Forty, but you have only two opportunities left to suck down your share of Old Bay-scented crustacean. After tonight’s and tomorrow’s boils, the mallets get put away until 2011. First seating at 6:30PM.

CALL ME: All hail punk/new wave pioneers Blondie as they raise the Nokia’s roof. The band—comprised these days of Debbie Harry, guitarist Chris Stein, and rummer Clem Burke—is gearing up to spring their ninth album, “Panic of Girls,” before 2010 is out. 8PM.

EARFUL: Get a sneak ear-peek at the hotly anticipated collab between John Legend and the Roots at Brooklyn Bowl’s listening party tonight. Nope, the artists won’t be there (you had to be at their secret June preview for that) but you’ll be able to hear The John Legendary Roots Crew’s disc Wake Up (Sony Music)—featuring classic Soul B-Sides by Roberta Flack, Donnie Hathaway, Nina Simone, and Marvin Gaye—before all your friends get it when it drops September 21. 9PM.
