GREAT JONES: Norah Jones rides into the Theater at MSG on the strength of her November ’09 album “The Fall,” which found her eschewing the ivories for a guitar and collaborating with the likes of Ryan Adams and Smokey Hormel, a Beck regular. Still, her rock dabbling doesn’t get in the way of her strengths: That voice, and her way with a lilting melody. Opening for Jones is the truly excellent, jazz-folky Sasha Dobson, a staple of the downtown music scene who deserves more attention. The Theater at Madison Square Garden, Saturday, 8PM.

SMOKE BREAK: Time to head down to Sheepshead Bay and watch serious men in aprons go tongs-to-tongs at the 5th Annual Grillin' On The Bay 2010 barbecue competition, New York City's ONLY officially sanctioned BBQ competition, benefitting Sheepshead Bay’s St. Mark School. And (because BBQ isn’t enough?) its co-event, the Brooklyn Chili Smackdown. Come to eat and egg on the competitors. The event, sponsored by RUB BBQ, is on Saturday at 11AM.

PRO-CREATE: It’s a distinct sign of the times that Babeland—New York City’s premier purveyor of naughty toys and seminars on the art and science of what happens between the sheets – is now holding a workshop called “Talking With Your Kids About Sex.” Certified sex-ed counselor Amy Levine brings her 15+ years of experience to the delicate dilemma of how to broach birds and bees with little Milo and Ella on Sunday at 7:30PM.
