Thursday's Winners and Losers

The week's hitting its final stride and the mood everywhere seems to be, at long last, drifting away from the runways and back into the real world. We even heard some people talking about gun control laws at Rebecca Taylor. Focus, people.

The Winners
- Tao Okamoto: This relatively unknown model officially became Phillip Lim's muse this week, apparently because of her unique hairstyle. Do you think her hairstylist can get a commission off that?
- Love: Who has the chutzpah to launch a new magazine in this economy? Katie Grand, apparently. Love has officially been revealed, and oh, and by the way, it's a fatty—and much of its bulk are, as it turns out, ad pages.
- Shoulders: According to NYMag, all the cool kids are doing 'em.
- Isaac Mizrahi: When Cathy Horyn of The New York Times writes that she was feeling reluctant about even going to Mizrahi's show, but was still incredibly impressed by the "terrific show" and his "incredibly personal" approach, you know you had a kick-ass show.

The Losers
- Shoes, Specifically Heels: After the well-documented falls at Herve Leger over the weekend, so many models apparently topped on the runways at Brian Reyes today that, for the closing finale, all of the models went barefoot. We'd wager that all those buyers that were banking on spring platforms are starting to rethink right about now.
- WWD: Obviously, we still rely on the well-informed trade mag for our daily fashion fix, but golly if it wasn't apparently easy to spoof them. And spoof them well, we might add. ("Shoes are back"? Hilars!
