This Ain't Your Grandma's Christmas Tree

Move over, Rockefeller Center: Apparently Paris is currently boasting some pretty tricked-out trees. WWD reports that a slew of well-known fashion designers (among them Jean Paul Gaultier and Louis Vuitton) unveiled their unconventional takes on the highly traditional holiday fixture in Paris.

Refinery29 named their "hands-down favorite": the Gucci tree, made up of stacked yellow boxes in a pyramid. The review on Zaha Hadid's tree was apparently a bit less exciting: it was "so coldly conceptual that it resembles a double-helixed science project instead of something you'd want to put presents under." Well, the giant sci fi orb she created for Chanel wasn't exactly cozy, either. Personally, we're partial to Norman Foster's glowing red tree—it might seem simple in comparison to other wildly creative ones, but that warm , fire-like presence seems more holiday even than the brightly-lit little tree sitting in the corner of our matchbox-sized apartment.
