Fake It Til You Make It

What does it take to be a freelance stylist these days? Matthew Anderson, 25, has worked with his parents (they "had him style them for a New Year’s Eve ball") and with Andre J. "I went to the Hiro Ballroom and met this woman. She said she was shooting something in the meatpacking district with Andre J. — he’s a socialite — and I told her I was a stylist. They ended up calling me the next morning, and I met them for the shoot, with the makeup artist. I directed some of the positions and also supplied the jewelry. It’s funny how things can change overnight." His day job is sales associate at the Juicy Couture store on Fifth Avenue. [NYT]
