k.d. lang serenades, scientists enlighten Hollywood, and Bruce brings E Street to Nassau

    What You're Doing Tonight, 5/4
The Boss and his E Street band are ready to rock your knickers off.

JERSEY'S OUT: Any attempt to describe how much this show is going to rock would punt us right into fawning-superlative territory, so we're sticking to the facts: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have a show at Nassau Coliseum tonight. It starts at 7:30PM.

MISS CHATELAINE: Any chance to hear Canadian chanteuse k.d. lang ply those husky power-pipes live should not be missed. Meaghan Smith -- a fellow Canuck who recalls a more homespun Sara Bareilles or Ingrid Michaelson -- opens. St. George Theatre, S.I., 7:30PM.

SCIENCE GOES TO THE MOVIES: This event is so nerdy it wraps back around to awesome: Neurocinematics! Where Neuroscience Meets Filmmaking has a group of NYU researchers explaining their recent findings on how elements of film -- editing, lighting, etc. -- can affect brain activity, and how these findings in return can help filmmakers create more impactful movies. Should be way less dry than it sounds. NY Academy of Sciences, 7PM.
