Think your family is dysfunctional at the holidays?
Try being part of one of the grandes familles of music, where everyone who shares your DNA is more talented than the last. Your parents have a big cocktail party every year right before Christmas, and everyone performs, hamming it up for the spotlight. Also, your parents' friends include Lou Reed, who you catch spiking the eggnog with something in a flask he says Nico gave him "back in the day" and pretty soon he starts playing along. These are the kind of shenanigans to expect, along with plenty of love and good vibes and holiday cheer, on December 10 at The McGarrigle Christmas Hour (as in folk sisters Anna and Kate), featuring Rufus (very likely in a Santa hat) and Martha Wainwright, with guests including the aforementioned Reed, plus Laurie Anderson, Emmylou Harris, Teddy Thompson, Justin Bond, Sloan Wainwright and -- perplexingly -- Jimmy Fallon. Tickets go on sale officially on November 5, but there's a pre-sale happening today over at the Carnegie Hall website.
