Sneaker Con Stepping to NYC This Weekend

Lace up, NYC. Serious shoe-heads congregate at this annual meet.

Are you serious about your sneakers? Like, really serious? Do you perhaps, in the Anglo parlance, refer to them as trainers? Or use words like joint and colorway and expect others to understand what you're talking about? We thought so.

Be amongst your people this Saturday, when SneakerCon returns. It’s a swap meet, meaning collectors from all over the country will bring their choicest soles and gear to barter with fellow shoe-heads. It’s a designer sale, because there’ll be 30+ vendors hawking rare creations and goods from the majors (like the Nike Foamposite Dirty Copper) and from culty, obscure sneak-makers all over the world.

And it’s a scene, because DJs Rok One and Iron Lyon will be spinning, and because last year’s crowd packed more than a thousand aficionados into one room, decked in their finest – and organizers are expecting nearly twice as many this year.

Sneaker Con 2010. It’s not just about shoes.
