Hot Ticket: The Bangles are Back

One of the greatest girl groups of the '80s (and all time) all time rocks out for a night; we dig out our pegleg jeans and mousse our hair for the occasion

The Event: L.A. all-girl supergroup The Bangles perform one night only at B.B. King's.

What We're Looking Forward To: We've missed these ladies. Has there ever been a better work-sucks anthem than the Prince-penned Manic Monday? (And why is the music scene in 2009 noticeably devoid of all-girl supergroups?) It's been nearly 30 years since Susanna Hoffs started playing '60s tinged power-pop music as "The Bangs" with sisters Vicki and Debbie Peterson (a legal skirmish added the "les" later on). After much shoestring self-promotion (at their first shows, the band gave away 45s of their music in plastic baggies with Xeroxed liner notes), they hit big and became one of the biggest chick groups of the 1980s. Cut ahead to 2009, and the ladies are reportedly back in the studio working on a new album.

Where and When: B.B. King's Blues Club; 5/24, 7:30PM (6PM doors)

Cost: $28 (advance), $32 (doors)
