7/28: Katy Perry Sees (RED)

Also, gorge on a sushi-and-cocktails deal at Union Prime, and revisit Vince Guaraldi’s “peanuts” sound live

PERRY RED: We saw Katy Perry live, and we liked it. She may have started out a one-trick pony, but any girl who dresses as Freddie Mercury for Halloween deserves (at least) a second chance. She'll be at Hammerstein Ballroom tonight doing a special show as part of the (RED)Nights series to raise money and awareness about AIDS in Africa. 7:30PM.

TUESDAY SPECIAL: The weekend is still so far away – comfort yourself with $2 sushi and two-for-one cocktails between 4 and 7PM at the always-excellent Union Prime. 9 East 16th Street, 212-675-4700.

GOOD GRIEF: What would Peanuts have been without the mellow, swinging sound of Vince Guaraldi? The 92nd Street Y lets you dive back into his inimitable piano style at “It's Jazz, Charlie Brown: The Music of Vince Guaraldi” -- featuring Bill Charlap on ivories duty -- starting at 8PM.
