7/16: Weezer on the Waterfront, NYPhil + Fireworks, Bats!

Our best bets around town tonight

ROCK TWOFER:Weezer had us at “Buddy Holly,” and our love remains undiminished – so much so, we’re willing to brave the humid conditions to go hear their show at the Williamsburg Waterfront tonight. Lovable rock nerds AWOLNATION open (we’ve been bopping our head to their tune “Burn It Down” since a link to it landed in our inbox). 5:30PM.

LOVE IS BLIND: Are we the only ones who think bats are completely hands-down adorable, with their big pointless eyes and wee ear nubbins? No matter: Kicking off tonight, the American Museum of Natural History takes you on a bat-watching tour of Central Park. Bradley Klein and Danielle Gustafson provide bat intel as you peep the little squeakers dipping and swooping in the twilight to feast on bugs. 8:30PM; more Evening Bat Walks on 7/23 and 7/30.

SOUND & FURY: The New York Philharmonic treks out to the Prospect Park Long Meadow Ballfields to serenade Kings County with a little Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky (heavy on melody, light on bombast). Best part? The show—part of the Phil’s free summer Concerts in the Parks program—wraps with a whizbang fireworks display. 8PM.
