ABLAZE: Head to the Financial District to join in one of New York City’s oldest yuletide events: After performances from the cast of Broadway’s “Elf,” the 60-foot Norway spruce outside of the New York Stock Exchange on Broad Street will ignite with 3,300 LED lights as Wall Street gets its very own tree lighting, in a tradition that dates back to 1923. 5PM.
MONDO CANE: As literary gimmicks go, the idea of a novel told from the viewpoint of Maf (short for Mafia Honey), the dog Frank Sinatra gifted to Marilyn Monroe in 1960, is a winning one indeed – and it remains so in the execution. Andrew O’Hagan discusses his unusual, whimsical new book “The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe” with writer, critic and Granta editor John Freeman at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble tonight. 7PM.
