12/4-5: Latke Fest, Victorian Xmas in Central Park…

And jumping rope is no child’s play at the 19th Annual Double Dutch Classic

Like latkes. Fête the festival of lights and the glory of bubbling grease at City Winery’s Second Annual Latke Festival, where chefs will do up twists on the potato pancake inspired by cuisines from Chinese to Cuban. Taste everything, vote for your favorite, and remember: Wine totally neutralizes calories. Sunday, 4PM.

GETTING FIGGY: The Central Park Conservancy is decking out the pretty waterside Charles A. Dana Discovery Center, overlooking the Harlem Meer, with thousands of twinklers in time for Sunday’s Victorian Holiday Lighting. And you know what that means: Carolers in Dickensian capelets! Also, hot chocolate and snapshots with Father Christmas (the kindly gift-giver later re-branded as "Santa Claus"). Central Park, East 110th at 5th Avenue. Sunday, 3PM, lighting around 4:45PM.

ROPE ’EM: As you watch teams of kids compete in the 19th Annual Double Dutch Holiday Classic, you realize two things: One, this is not the rope-jumping you did as a child, what with astoundingly complex choreography that sends athletes flying into the air or doing a dance breakdown. And two, how long can it be before Simon Cowell is on TV with some sort of rope-jumping reality-talent thing? The Apollo, Sunday, 1PM.
