12/30: Jazz-Age Fête, 2010 IT SUCKED! Awards + Biz Markie DJs

Where to be on the Eve of the Eve

SOIREE: Here’s an idea: Fête New Years Eve on New Years Eve Eve (i.e., tonight) and you can have all the fun and the champagne and still get a cab at the end of the night. Tonight, Dances of Vice’s jazz-age shindig Let’s Face the Music and Dance gives you the JC Hopkins Biggish Band, burlesque Queen Veronica Varlow and more—plus, it’s at the gorgeous, old-world Players Club. 8PM.

BAD ALL OVER: Join a dozen comedians at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in a celebration of the terribleness in the year that was at their 2010 IT SUCKED! Awards, hosted by the entirely non-sucky improv group Sidecar. 9:30PM.

FRIEND INDEED: Long Island’s own Biz Markie—Rapper! Beatboxer! Avtor! Radio Shack Spokesman! And, as confirmed by Wikipedia, “Clown Prince God of the Southwest Atlantic”!—does duty on the turntables at Brooklyn Bowl, subbing for Questlove. Expect lots of old-school hip-hop and plenty of surprises. 11PM.
