Enough said—you’ll have to come up with your own double-entendres about heat, sliding down poles, firehoses and so on. 7PM.

PAST, PRESENT: Dovetailing with its annual exhibition of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol, The Morgan Library presents a special preview of A Chamber Christmas Carol, a new concert version of Dickens's beloved classic. Five actors (including The SopranosDominic Chianese) and five musicians will bring the Dickens tale to life through an original score by award-winning composer Ray Leslee. (Before the show, don’t miss the chance to swing by the newly restored McKim Rooms at the museum for a look at the book’s original manuscript, complete with Dickens’ own mark-ups in quill). 7:30PM.

SCROOGED: Few experiences give you the old-school yuletide warm-n-fuzzies like the Christmas by Candlelight event at the Merchant's House Museum. All ingredients provided to plunge you into full Dickens mode at this 19th-century manse, from Victorian Christmas tree ornaments to halls lit by candle and gaselier (that's a gas chandelier, of course). For extra fun, may we remind you that the museum has also been called New York’s most haunted house? Tours 6 to 9PM Friday, 4 to 8PM Saturday and Sunday.
