12/14: Santa Claus is Real: Discuss

Hear scientists debate St. Nick and Keren Ann coo. Plus: Holiday beer tasting!

BEARD SCIENCE: Unlike in the courtroom scene in “Miracle on 34th Street”, where faith is invoked to “prove” the existence of St. Nicholas, actual science is invoked (by experts!) at tonight’s panel discussion “Beyond Belief: A Philosophical Proof of Santa Claus”, part of the (increasingly interesting) Open City Dialogue lecture series at Pete’s Candy Store. 7:30PM.

SILENT NIGHT: French/American/Israeli chanteuse Keren Ann takes over the Knitting Factory for a night of quietly soulful tunes in different languages – she’s like Feist with an extra helping of melancholy. Delightful quirkpop peddlers Clare And The Reasons join. 8PM.

SUDS: Beer Ethos’ Maggie Fuller and Will Stephens of BeerMenus as they serve up eight not-for-the-faint-of-palate holiday beers (St. Bernardus Christmas, Troegs Mad Elf, Dieu du Ciel Solstice d’Hiver are among the guest stars) at Styles Session 13, each paired with appropriate bites. Yes, it’s Monday – but we’re almost in the drink-every-night part of the yuletide season, so who’s counting? 7-9PM, Rattle 'N' Hum.
