HALLOWED WALLS: What ghosts lurk in the McKim Rooms of the Morgan Library and Museum? Starting on Saturday (after a $4.5-million renovation), Pierpont Morgan’s private vault and the exquisitely ornate office of his librarian will be open to the public for the first time. Saturday, 10AM-6PM and Sunday, 11AM-6PM.
TOMB RAIDER: Hey, you know what’ll guarantee you never sleep again? A crawl through the crypt of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine—complete with stories of those entombed within. Sunday, tours every hour on the hour from 1-4PM.
MESS AROUND: It’s not everybody who can make it to the (awesome, btw) Punkin Chunkin World Championships in Delaware, wherein hopefuls compete to see who can hurl a gourd the farthest using various projecting contrpations. But take heart: This weekend, haul your pumpkin to the New York Hall of Science, and they’ll shoot the thing off with their 19-foot catapult, “Chuck.” Saturday and Sunday, 12-4PM.
MEAN GIRLS: It’s a Very Heathers Halloween at Union Hall—dress up as your favorite (Heather, that is) for an interactive screening and ’80s dance party. BYO shoulder pads and chainsaws. Saturday, midnight.
BEST FUR LAST: It’s the 12th annual Great Pupkin Dog Costume Contest at Fort Greene Park, a standout among the city’s litany of K9s-in-costume events (and part of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy's Halloween Fest). There is no resisting the adorability of a daschund bunned up with mustard and ketchup or a poodle in a Gaga wig. Don’t fight it. 12PM.
