Is your Chrysler as big as a whale? Is it about to set sail? The idea of quintessential American mod-poppers the B-52’s lacquering up their beehives for a massive! beach! party! on Governors Island has us a smidge punchy, so please bear with us. Here’s the lowdown:
The B-52’s on the Beach (presented by Highline Ballroom) will be a rain-or-shine evening spectacular on the shore at Governors Island, a scant 800 yards off of lower Manhattan. Sure, you could just show up and shimmy to everything from Rock Lobster to Love Shack, but get this: the 52 ladies (geddit? 52?) attending the show who impress roaming judges with their creative nautical/beach-themed costumes (sailor suits, mermaid tails – you get the idea) will win tickets to an upcoming Highline event.
Tickets: The Amex presale on tickets kicks off today; public on-sale begins June 29 at 10AM. General admission tickets are $ 38.50 (advance or $45 day of show), or you can round up three others and get a four-pack for $134.
