Most porn stars never make it out of the adult industry—take the sad case of the poor, and recently deceased, Marilyn Chambers, who went from 99-and 44/100-percent pure Ivory Soap pitchwoman to XXX-fame but never back. Suffice it to say, times have changed. This year's-model porn starlet, Sasha Grey, was hired for an ad campaign because of her porn career. Granted that ad campaign was for American Apparel, but still.
And now Grey is getting rave reviews, even howls of "Oscar! Oscar!" for her work in Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience"—in which she does not even have sex (though she plays a prostitute). It all makes one suspicious that she might not even really like having sex with strangers on camera at all, and that, while piling up awards for appearing in adult films, she has been longing for a real film and modeling career—in short, that she has been faking it all along.
Sasha Grey will appear along with director Steven Soderberg at the Tribeca Film Festival after a screening of "The Girlfriend Experience" on Wednesday, April 29, at 8 p.m. at the SVA Theater (333 West 23rd Street). The trailer for the film is below.
