As if there wasn't enough buzz, plugs, shills and posters for Live Forever, the exhibit of works by superstartist Elizabeth Peyton, the Bowery's New Museum is falling over itself with excitement to pull a little stunt. A top-secret addition to the show has been waiting in the wings - a painting featuring the First-Lady-sort-of-elect with one of her daughters' heads resting in her lap titled "Michelle and Sasha Obama Listening to Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention August 2008." Gothamist has a preview of the work.
The painting will be on display at the New Museum as part of the show, which closes January 11. (What, they're not extending it nine more days, for the inauguration?)
