Mayor Mike to the Rescue

Bloomberg helped search for the pulse of a young man who fainted during a news conference

Mayor Michael Bloomberg jumped to the rescue of one New Yorker Wednesday, helping to revive a young man who apparently fainted during a news conference in the Bronx.

According to the New York Times, the young man, identified by friends as Emmanuel Vera, a pitcher on Lehman College’s baseball team, thudded to the ground without warning.

Mayor Bloomberg was one of the first to jump to the rescue.  He searched for a pulse in his neck and tried to get Vera to start talking, the Times reported.

After a few minutes Vera began to regain consciousness and he was whisked away by emergency officials.

Seemingly unruffled, paramedic Mike returned to the lectern to continue his talk on the rising number of black and Hispanic students from city schools who are enrolling in CUNY institutions.
