A popular community festival was coming to a close when gunfire erupted in a Brooklyn neighborhood, leaving one man dead, another person in critical condition and 10 others wounded, authorities said Sunday as they searched for two shooters they believe were involved.

Filmmaker Spike Lee hosted a block party on Sunday in Bedford-Stuyvesant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his 1989 film “Do the Right Thing.” The party was from 12 to 7 p.m. and hosted on Stuyvesant Avenue between Lexington and Quincy — where most of the film was shot.
