Suffolk County Says Avoid 47 Beaches

Heavy rainfall may have elevated bacteria levels in the water

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is telling residents to avoid certain beaches that may have excessive levels of bacteria in the water because of recent heavy rainfall. The advisory is expected to be lifted Tuesday morning unless further testing indicates elevated bacterial numbers.
