Middlesex Water Company, a water utility serving customers in several parts of New Jersey, is advising customers to boil their drinking water for one minute after this weekend's massive storm.
The advisory applies to municipalities of Carteret, Metuchen, Woodbridge, South Amboy and parts of Edison and South Plainfield.
In a statement, the company said its treatment plant experienced minor flooding as a result of heavy rains from last night's storm which may have impacted the treatment process.
Customers should boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking, baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption. The utility also provides a portion of the water supply needs to the municipalities of Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, East Brunswick, and Highland Park.
