Meet Jill Rappaport

Jill Rappaport is an award winning animal advocate and best selling author, best known as a correspondent on NBC. But  after decades on the red carpet covering all things entertainment, it was her dog Jack that transformed her life and career forever. In 2006 after her beloved German Shepherd was diagnosed with bone cancer, Rappaport covered his valiant battle on the Today Show. His story touched people all over the world, and Jack became the “Ambassadog of Hope” for Animal cancer.

At that point Jill knew her true calling was to raise awareness for all things animals, and she went to her Today Show Executive producer, and said “stars don’t need my help, animals do” and from that day on Jill went from entertainment reporter to animal advocate.

Jill is now considered  the voice for the voiceless-working tirelessly to make a difference for animals in need, by shining a light on shelters across America.

She launched her award winning segment “Bow To Wow” on Today, and this beloved series which featured shelter animals getting a makeover and a second chance for life ran for over 6 six years and had a 100% adoption record!

Whether it is through her heartfelt reporting, her best-selling books, or her pet product lines which now includes leashes, collars, toys, dog and cat beds plus equestrian goods- including a jewelry line (for humans) named after her beloved mare “Hannah’s Heart” to support the ASPCA.

Jill has transformed her passion into purpose, all to raise awareness and funds for rescue and adoption. Jill’s work has garnered her countless coveted honors including, three Genesis Awards “the Oscars of the animal world” from the Humane Society of the United States, The First Voice for the Animals Award from HSUS,The Presidential Service Award for Media Excellence from the ASPCA, and the Excellence in Journalism and Outstanding Contributions to the Pet Industry Award.

Rappaport was also named the ASPCA’S Goodwill Equine Welfare Ambassador, and had the honor of ringing the NYSE Opening and Closing Bell- all to raise awareness for pet adoption.

Jill is currently working on her own rescue site, where she also will feature her own line of pet products at great prices with the animals models ALL up for adoption! It’s called Jill Rappaport’s Shop and Adopt. She will also feature animals from around the country that need homes most, dire cases-in a special series which she trademarked called “America’s Most UNwanted”.

Rappaport was also named the Spokesperson for the American Pet Products Association “PETS ADD LIFE” campaign, and just spoke at the BLOGHER convention about the joys and benefits of saving animals lives.

Jill has also created a wonderful new toy called “Shelter Shake” which was launched exclusively on QVC in December. Plus she will be donating them to various shelters nationwide, “so animals feel like they are one step closer to a loving home".

In 2015 on Feb. 21st., Jill will launch her much anticipated “Best In Shelter with Jill Rappaport”prime time special.  Jill is the creator, executive producer and host of this show which she say’s is going to be “Westminster for shelter pets and a game-changer for animals in need”.

And she is very proud of her Jill Rappaport’s Pies 4 Paws challenge to raise awareness for shelter animals. Rappaport launched her version of the ALS ice bucket challenge to help rescue pets- and to date fifteen national animal organizations and shelters are PIE-Ticipating! Including the big 3 – HSUS, ASPCA, and The American Humane Association.
