Olympians, ‘Biggest Loser' and ‘Top Chef' Competitors Head to 2016 Expo

One of the largest and open-to-the-public health events, the Health & Fitness Expo will be held at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15

Olympic stars and competitors from “The Biggest Loser” and “Top Chef” will join Giants players and NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 anchors and reporters at this month’s Fourth Annual Health & Fitness Expo, presented by Quest Diagnostics.

There'll be plenty to do — including free health screenings, yoga practice, cooking and fitness demos, an interactive weather station, a family fun zone, and locker room tours — and plenty of familiar faces to meet at the expo.

Former Olympians at the expo appearing at the Stage of Champions include volleyball player Heather Bown, a silver medalist; Para-alpine skier Tyler Carter, bronze medal-winning luger Erin Hamlin; and gold medal-winning bobsledder Steve Mesler and gold medal-winning rower Taylor Ritzel.

The Olympic stars are affiliated with Classroom Champions, a charity founded by Mesler that has mentored more than 11,000 at-risk students in classrooms.

Those who visit the Classrooms Champions section of the event can create a postcard to send to athletes who are competing in the Rio Olympics this summer.

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings and Super Bowl XLVI champion former punter Steve Weatherford, both expo co-hosts, will take selfies with fans and take part in other health-centric events.

Star wideout Victor Cruz and former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, the Super Bowl XXI champion and NBC Sunday Night Football commentator, will also be on hand at the event.

Other Big Blue stars scheduled to appear include running back Shane Vereen; linebackers Jasper Brinkley, Jonathan Casillas and J.T. Thomas; punter Brad Wing; nose tackle Damon Harrison; tight end Larry Donnell; wideout Geremy Davis; and long snapper Zak DeOssie.

“Biggest Loser” contestants Nicole Brewer Gurganious (Season 14) and Olivia Ward (Season 11) will take the main stage on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Gurganious and Ward, who are both New Yorkers and involved in the fitness industry, will share their tips for keeping fit.

“Top Chef” contestants Ariane Duarte (Season 5) and Kwame Onwuachi (Season 13) will also be at the expo. The two chefs will take part in Healthy Cooking 4 You, where they’ll show off their favorite healthy recipes.

Duarte owns the restaurant Ariane in Verona, New Jersey, and Onwuachi owns The Shaw Bijou in Washington, D.C.

Anchors and reporters from NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 will also be at the two-day event, including NBC 4 New York sports anchor Bruce Beck, and Noticiero 47 sportscaster Verónica Contreras, who will be hosting the expo.

One of the largest and open-to-the-public health events, the Health & Fitness Expo will be held at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. A giant free yoga event will take place there on May 15 at 9 a.m. RSVP for the yoga event here
