Etiquette 101 Courses for Olympic Athletes

Remember those embarassing Bode Miller moments at the 2006 Winter Games? American Olympic leaders do, and that's why they've giving U.S. athletes a crash course on Chinese etiquette and culture before the start of the 2008 games in Beijing, the Wall Street Journal reports today. It includes lessons in volcabulary, eating with chopsticks social customs ("Chinese do not hug" - and, perhaps most importantly, drinking habits. Some athletes are calling it the Bode Miller show, `believing it was prompted by the American skier's high profile partying at the Winter Games two years ago in Torino, Italy.
