The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers met in Super Bowl LV Sunday night, and the Buccaneers came out victorious at their own Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay's win is their second Super Bowl title in franchise history. The first was Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. At 68 years old, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians became the oldest head coach to win a national championship.

Brady won his 7th Super Bowl ring. He now holds the record for the most Super Bowl wins by any player in the National Football League. Brady was named Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time.

This Super Bowl matchup featured two quarterbacks with the largest age gap ever to play in the big game: 18 years and 45 days. The Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes II is 25 years old while Brady, playing in his first year with the Buccaneers, is 43 years old.

Twitter has added a goat emoji to tweets with the hashtags #TomBrady, #Brady, #PatrickMahomes or #Mahomes. Brady is being referred to as the big GOAT and Mahomes as the little GOAT, and of course GOAT means "the greatest of all time."

The 2021 championship was the first time that a team played for the Vince Lombardi trophy at their home stadium.

Also this year, Sarah Thomas became the first woman to officiate a Super Bowl. Plus, Tampa Bay's Lori Locust and Maral Javadifar became the first female coaches to win a Super Bowl title.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, stadium tickets were limited to just a few thousand fans while most watched the game virtually. The NFL welcomed 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers as guests. Some tickets sold for up to $40,000 and there were 30,000 cutouts in the stands.

According to the NFL, Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 was the most-watched Super Bowl in history.
