Semin, Lundqvist and Weber named top players for October

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Washington Capitalsleft wing Alexander Semin, New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber were selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the month of October.

Semin had 16 points to lead the league through the first month of the season, as the Capitals posted a 5-3-1 record. He had points in eight of Washington's nine games. He had six multiple-point contests, one shy of his total for all of 2007-08.

Lundqvist topped all goaltenders in victories and helped the Rangers to an 8-2-1 record with a 1.99 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. He allowed two goals or fewer nine times, including a pair of 2-1 victories over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the season-opening series in Prague.

Weber led all NHL defensemen in scoring with 11 points and posted a plus-five rating in 10 games.
