Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - John Mitchell netted his first two NHL goals, and Toronto scored five times in a amazing span of 5:22 in the final period, on the way to a shocking 5-2 win over the New York Rangers at Air Canada Centre.
Jason Blake, Pavel Kubina and Dominic Moore also scored for Toronto, which was behind 2-0 until finally reaching the scoreboard with 7:25 left in regulation.
Vesa Toskala made 18 saves and faced just four shots in the final period for the Maple Leafs, who won for the fourth time in five games.
Ryan Callahan and Blair Betts scored for the Rangers, who had a four-game winning streak broken. Stephen Valiquette gave up five goals on 17 shots in the final period and finished the night with 30 saves.

Blake and Kubina scored 51 seconds apart to give Toronto the lead. Moore sent a simple backhand to the net from the left circle, and Blake, playing in his 600th NHL game, tipped in the disc at the 14:02 mark. A short time later, Kubina unleashed a heavy slap shot from beyond the right circle past a screened Valiquette.
Mitchell scored again with 3:54 left on a shot from the left circle, and Moore finished the barrage with 2:03 remaining. Both tallied were unassisted.

Callahan's fourth goal of the season came with just 10 seconds left in the opening period. Dan Girardi fed a cross-ice pass to Callahan, who scored from the bottom of the left circle.
Betts scored with 4:35 left in the second period. Fredrik Sjostrom fed a backhand pass from below the left circle to Dmitri Kalinin for a one-timer above the same circle. The puck caromed off the boards behind the goal and went right to Betts on the other side, and he deposited it into the open net.
