Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Ryan Miller posted his second straight shutout as the Buffalo Sabres topped the Martin Brodeur-less New Jersey Devils, 2-0, at the Prudential Center.
Miller stopped all 24 shots he faced for the ninth shutout of his career. Jason Pominville and Patrick Kaleta each scored for the Sabres, who have won two straight after a three-game losing streak.
The Devils were without Brodeur between the pipes for the first time in 52 regular season games, dating back to January 8 of last season. The future Hall-of-Famer was sidelined with a bruised elbow suffered in Saturday's win over Atlanta.
Kevin Weekes proved an adequate replacement with 28 saves, but New Jersey, which has dropped four of five, went 0-for-7 on the power play in failing to score a goal for the first time this season.
Weekes was phenomenal in the first period, stopping 19 shots and denying the Sabres on four separate power plays.
But Buffalo broke through at the conclusion of a 5-on-3 with just 34 seconds remaining in the opening frame. Ales Kotalik fed Jaroslav Spacek at the right circle, who in turn passed to an open Pominville in the middle for the one- timer past Weekes.
The Devils showed signs of life after a three-shot first 20 minutes, but still couldn't get anything past Miller.

The Sabres added an insurance goal on Kaleta's redirection of Andrej Sekera's shot from the point at the 7:41 mark of the third.
