And then there were four.
The division round weekend has officially wrapped and fans were treated to upsets, trick plays and some good ole fashion rivalries.
The action kicked off on Saturday afternoon with Patrick Mahomes returning from an ankle injury suffered in the first quarter to lead the Kansas City Chiefs over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs went on to win 27-20 to advance to the AFC Championship Game for the fifth straight season.
In Philadelphia, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles capped off Saturday's action with a 38-7 win over the New York Giants. Hurts, who's been recovering from a shoulder injury for the past month, easily handled the Giants' defense in the first half, building a 28-0 lead heading into halftime. New York needed a big scoring half, but quarterback Daniel Jones was unable to follow up on his electric wild card performance as the Eagles advanced to the NFC Championship.
The playoffs continued on Sunday in Buffalo with one of the most anticipated matchups between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. This was the first time these two teams had met since their Week 17 game was suspended following the cardiac arrest of Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Hamlin received a warm welcome from Bills Mafia at Highmark Stadium, but unfortunately for Buffalo that was one of the few good moments for their team on Sunday.
Joe Burrow proved the Bengals’ run to last year’s Super Bowl was anything but a fluke, chopping up the Buffalo defense with two touchdowns and leading Cincinnati to a decisive 27-10 win on the road. The Bengals and Chiefs will now meet in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship in Kansas City.
The final game of the weekend saw 49ers rookie quarterback Brock Purdy squeak out a 19-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys at home. San Francisco advances to the NFC Championship game for the second straight season and third time in four years.
