Knicks sign Nichols to second 10-day contract

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks have signed guard Demetris Nichols to his second consecutive 10-day contract.

He has yet to appear in a game for New York this season.

Nichols was a second-round selection by Portland in the 2007 NBA Draft, and was traded to the Knicks in a draft-night deal. However, he was released by New York after playing in five preseason games in 2007-08, and split his rookie season between Cleveland and Chicago, averaging 1.1 points in 14 games. Nichols saw action in two games with the Bulls this season before being released in November.

Nichols, a 24-year-old Syracuse product, averaged 20.3 points and 4.7 boards in 11 games for Iowa of the NBA Development League this season.
