The Giants Get Their Man, Sort Of…

The Giants got "a freak of nature" with their first round selection.

At least that's what his junior college coach Garett Tujague of the College of the Canyons said about him. His name is Jason Pierre-Paul and he was tabbed by Big Blue with the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Pierre-Paul is a superb athlete. He recorded 16 and a half tackles for loss this year for the University of South Florida. He also had 6 and a half sacks. The 6'5 270 pound defensive end played only one year of high school basketball and one year of Division 1 college basketball.

The young man is raw but also talented. And he was a good answer for the Giants after they watched running back, C J Spiller and linebacker Rolando McClain vanish on their big board  at their "war room" in East Rutherford.

So what does this mean to the Giants disgruntled defensive end, Osi Umenyiora? Only time will tell.  But it looks like his playing time will be limited or his days will be numbered with Big Blue.

Bottom line, the Giants improved their defense but not their most pressing need.  The team needs linebacker help now.  Then again, there is always rounds two and three tomorrow.
