No Love for A-Rod's Locker

Bidding starts at $25,000 … any takers?

Everybody's rushing to get hold of the relics being auctioned off from the old Yankee Stadium, but one token seems to have escaped the mad dash for posterity: A-Rod's locker.

The bidding for Yankee Stadium memorabilia closes tomorrow night – and so far, there have been zero takers for Alex Rodriguez's locker (starting bid $25,000). A-Rod's locker is one of 25 items out of hundreds that haven't gotten any bids, although at the price they're looking for, we're not sure we'd be waving our auction numbers either.

Brandon Steiner, whose firm runs the auction, isn't deterred by the lack of interest thus far, however. He said the real bidding would begin in earnest today or tomorrow.

"The number of registered users on our site has doubled in the past couple of months, and many are not going to bid until the last minute," Steiner told The New York Post.

A-Rod's locker joins a host of other lonely items that haven't gotten any love, including the traveling secretary's lamp, the wheelchair-accessibility signs, team President Randy Levine's end tables and the signs for the women's bathrooms, according to the Post.

The most sought-after item so far is a sign quoting Joe DiMaggio that reads, "I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankee. " More than 50 people have bid for the sign, which is up to $3,500.

Don't have the dough to shell out now for Yankee memorabilia? Saving up for A-Rod's locker? Fear not – hundreds more keepsakes will be available in a second auction running from September to December, the Post reports.
