Nets forward Hayes has torn ligaments in thumb

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New Jersey Nets forward Jarvis Hayes will miss at least a week of action after partially tearing ligaments in his left thumb during Wednesday's loss to Dallas.

Hayes will wear a splint for the next week after which time he will be reevaluated. The 6-foot-8, University of Georgia product finished the game 6- of-6 from the field for 15 points. An MRI exam Thursday revealed the tear.

The 27-year-old is averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in a little over 25 minutes per game this season for New Jersey over 50 games.

In 358 career contests, including 96 starts, Hayes has posted averages of 8.3 points and 3.2 rebounds.
