Garrett Jones hit a three-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and Andrew Miller preserved the lead in the bottom half Tuesday night by striking out Nelson Cruz with two on to end the New York Yankees' 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Stephen Drew tied it at 2 in the ninth with an RBI double off Seattle closer Fernando Rodney as New York took the first two games of this three-game series.
With two outs, Jones drilled a fastball over the wall in center off reliever Joe Beimel, who relieved Tom Wilhelmsen (1-1) after he allowed two-out hits to Drew and Brett Gardner.
Justin Wilson (2-0) pitched a clean 10th for the win. Miller gave up an RBI single to Robinson Cano in the 11th. Then with Cano and Austin Jackson, who was hit by a pitch from the Yankees closer to reach base for the sixth time, aboard, Miller struck out Cruz for his 16th save.
Trailing 2-1, Drew tied it after Rodney walked Headley and pinch-hitter Brian McCann had a two-out single. Drew lined a shot to right, scoring Headley.
It was the second blown save in Rodney's last four appearances and the third of the season.
Mike Montgomery was in line to earn the win in his major league debut following six solid innings. The Mariners' left-hander allowed one run and four hits. He walked two and struck out four.

Jackson gave Seattle a 2-1 lead in the sixth with an RBI and chased CC Sabathia.
New York's starter allowed two runs and nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 5 2-3 innings.
Mark Teixeira put the Yankees ahead in the third with an RBI double. Teixeira's double came after catcher Mike Zunino and manager Lloyd McClendon were ejected from the game in the third, apparently angry with two calls earlier in the inning that resulted in walks.
Zunino was tossed for showing his displeasure with first base umpire Will Little's ruling that Alex Rodriguez had checked his swing on a full-count pitch. It was the second swing that had been checked on a full count in the inning.
McClendon was also quickly ejected after confronting Little. The Mariners manager made his way from first to third to voice his displeasure with each of the umpires, tossing and kicking his hat along the way.

Mariners: Young right-hander Taijuan Walker looks to improve on one of his best starts of his career, when he struck out eight in eight shutout innings against the Indians on May 29. Walker is 2-5 with a 6.18 ERA in 10 starts this season.
Yankees: Masahiro Tanaka is scheduled to come off the disabled list and start Wednesday's finale against the Mariners. Tanaka has been sidelined since late April with a mild right forearm strain and wrist tendinitis. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 3.22 ERA in four starts this season.

Mariners: Right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma, on the 15-day disabled list with an injury to his right lat (upper back), played catch on Tuesday and will complete a bullpen session Thursday. Iwakuma hasn't thrown in a game in more than a month.
Yankees: Right-hander Ivan Nova tossed three innings during an extended Spring Training start Tuesday before rain shortened the game. Nova, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, finished his workout with another couple innings out of the rain. New York manager Joe Girardi said he reached about 75 pitches.
