Isles D Pock suspended

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The National Hockey League has suspended New York Islandersdefenseman Thomas Pock for five games, without pay, for an incident that occurred in Thursday's 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

Pock was assessed a major for elbowing and a game misconduct for a hit on Ottawa forward Ryan Shannon late in the third period.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the $17,943.55 he forfeits will go to the Player's Emergency Assistance Fund.

In 15 games with the Islanders this season, his first with the club, he has two assists and 25 penalty minutes.

He will be eligible to return to the ice on November 26 against Pittsburgh.
