Former Ranger Walt Poddubny dies

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Former New York Rangers forward Walt Poddubny died at the age of 49 on Saturday.

Poddubny, who had 78 goals and 175 points in two seasons with the Rangers, apparently collapsed at his sister's home on Saturday. It was not known whether he had been suffering from any health problems.

Only the third player in Rangers history to lead the team in scoring for each of his seasons with the club, Poddubny played 468 games in the NHL with the Oilers, Maple Leafs, Rangers, Nordiques and Devils. His final season in the pros was in 1991-92 with New Jersey, playing just seven games.

For his career, he had 184 goals and 422 points.
