Do You Like Your Glass Half-Full or Half-Empty?

The Yankees are still waiting on the results of more tests on Alex Rodriguez's hip, but Friday was a day for Yankee fans and media to reflect and react to the very different state of affairs created by Thursday's news. One of those media members, Peter Abraham of the LoHud Yankee Blog, posted his take on the Yankee lineup.

Players who are injured: Alex Rodriguez.

Aging players coming off injuries: Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui.

Aging players in decline: Derek Jeter, Johnny Damon.

Young, unproven players: Brett Gardner, Melky Cabrera.

Players coming off their worst season: Robinson Cano.

Players without a position: Nick Swisher.

Players who probably aren’t as good as last season’s stats would indicate: Xavier Nady.

That didn't sit so right with some of his readers who felt that Pete should look for the silver lining. He's a good guy, so he came up with a second look while wearing rose-colored glasses.

Players who are injured but will gut through it (not with the help of their cousin): Alex Rodriguez.

Aging players coming off injuries but are of strong character: Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui.

He’s Derek Jeter, the great Yankee: Derek Jeter.

Players in a contract year who still want to make money because they have a lot of kids and like doing fun stuff: Johnny Damon.

Young, hungry players: Brett Gardner, Melky Cabrera.

Players coming off their worst season, so they are sure to improve: Robinson Cano.

Players who can play many positions and get on base a lot: Nick Swisher.

Players who probably aren’t as good as last season’s stats would indicate. But maybe not! Xavier Nady.

Reading between the lines, there's an awful lot on Mark Teixeira's shoulders. At least he can't complain he's not getting compensated for the heavy load. You're invited to spend the weekend choosing which one better suits your own view of the Bronx Bombers.
