David Boudia Promotes New Book, ‘Greater Than Gold,' on TODAY

David Boudia talked to TODAY’s Carson Daly and Hoda Kotb about his new book, "Greater than Gold: From Olympic Heartbreak to Ultimate Redemption," out August 2.

Primarily, it is the story of Boudia’s two previous Olympic appearances. First, at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a 19-year-old, Boudia finished fifth individually on the 10m platform. Leaving those Games was followed by "suicidal thoughts" and being "severely depressed," he told the TODAY anchors.

But in London, after further exploring his faith, he became the Olympic champion, winning gold on the platform. He also won a bronze in the synchronized platform.

Greater than Gold” explores additional realms of Boudia’s day to day life, including his new role as a father and husband, in the run-up to the 2016 Rio Games.
