Crystal Dunn, of Long Island, made her professional debut in 2014 after finishing her college career at the University of North Carolina with 31 points in four seasons.

She started every game of her first three seasons with the Tar Heels, and though she fell to injuries her senior year, she still started 18 of the team's 21 games. In 2015, she was one of only 25 players being considered for the Women’s World Cup team.

But when she didn’t make the 23-player team, she instead pulled off a second stellar season with the Washington Spirit, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in the Women’s National Soccer League. That same season, she broke the league record of goals per team game and went on to become the youngest MVP in the league’s history at age 23.

She will compete as a forward in her first Olympics in Rio.
