The Mets didn't show much fight once Sunday's game actually got underway, but Francisco Rodriguez was full of vinegar during the pre-game. He confronted Brian Bruney of the Yankees after Bruney said Saturday that K-Rod's gyrations on the mound are a "tired act." K-Rod responded by suggesting that players who spend as much time on the disabled list as Bruney shouldn't risk pulling their jaw by talking about others and the Subway Series had some bad blood for the first time since Roger Clemens considered impaling Mike Piazza on a broken bat.
The two men crossed paths in the outfield during warmups, and you can watch what happened below.
"Hold me back! Hold me back!" The day ended with Bruney making apologies which makes K-Rod the winner, if such determinations are of much significance.
Your feelings about who is right and wrong in these conflagrations is probably based on which team you root for in the first place, but isn't it about time to put an end to players whining about celebrations? Whether it is K-Rod or Joba Chamberlain or anyone else, just beat them on the field and leave the bellyaching for private consumption. Players celebrate when they win, if you don't like it don't let them win.
