NBA Game Summary – New Jersey at Portland

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Brandon Roy, despite shooting 0-for-6 from the field in the first half, finished with a game-high 31 points to lead the Trail Blazers past the Nets, 109-100, at the Rose Garden.

Nicolas Batum recorded a career-high 20 points for Portland, which has won six of its last eight games. LaMarcus Aldridge totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds while Steve Blake chipped in 15 points and five assists in the win.

Devin Harris donated 27 points, eight helpers and seven boards for the Nets, who have dropped two in a row and four of five overall. Brook Lopez added 22 points and Vince Carter 19 in defeat.

Down by two late in the game, the Nets were working the ball around, but had it stolen by Roy. Portland then called a timeout with 42.4 ticks left.

Following the stoppage, the home team moved the ball around before Blake appeared to drive the lane, but kicked it out to Batum, who nailed a three from the left elbow with 29.4 seconds left to make it 101-96.

Eventually Lopez'S layup pulled the Nets within 103-100 with 16.2 seconds left, but New Jersey failed to get any closer down the stretch.

The Nets led 26-20 after the first quarter and, despite leading by as many as 12 in the second, were up 51-47 at the break.

Harris' long-range jumper closed out a 9-2 run the Nets used to open the third stanza. The surge gave the visitors a 60-49 lead with about 8 1/2 minutes left in the period.

Moments later, the Blazers recorded six straight points, highlighted by Batum's layup, to close within 68-65 with 3:39 left in the third.

The Nets kept pushing and were up 77-71 heading into the fourth.

Early in the fourth, Joel Przybilla hit a free throw, Batum added a long jumper and Roy offered a basket to cut it to 81-79.

The teams traded baskets and Roy had three points and Przybilla added two free throws to give the Blazers an 89-87 lead with just over five minutes left to play.

The lead see-sawed from there, and Blake hit a three and Travis Outlaw nailed two free throws to make it 98-94 in favor of Portland with just under two minutes left.
